Infrastructure Plan & Design
Maywood Solutions provide numerous Virtualization services which have been specifically designed to assist customers in identifying, planning and implementing Virtual Infrastructure Solutions within both server and desktop environments. Drawing upon the skills, knowledge and experience of our consultants Maywood Solutions can design Virtual Infrastructure Solutions customised for your environment. The Virtual Infrastructure Planning Workshop Service offering is designed to plan and scope a project in readiness for a Proof of Concept or a full solution implementation.
Maywood Solutions can help you manage the risk in planning virtual infrastructures by engaging our tried and tested virtual infrastructure deployment methodology. We work along side your IT teams to understand the impact on the business adopting virtualisation technology may have and help you realise the benefits that can be gained by deploying such an infrastructure. By understanding both your business requirements and current infrastructure, our fully accredited virtualisation specialists will produce a customised and detailed design blueprint which will help you on the road to implementing a virtual infrastructure.
The service consists of a workshop, held at the customer’s premises, and is designed to plan a Virtual Infrastructure Proof of Concept environment or a full design for implementation. It is a forum in which the IT teams can come together with Maywood Solutions Certified Virtualisation Consultants to understand the specific requirements for server consolidation, disaster recovery, and virtual desktop infrastructure projects creating a tailor made programme for running the customers applications within a virtual infrastructure and ultimately accelerating the adoption of Virtualised environments.
The following prerequisites should be carried out before embarking on the Virtual Infrastructure Planning Workshop:
- The customer is required to produce a list of servers expected to be purchased in the coming year, either for new applications or to replace existing servers and include an element of future proofing to map out the next 4-5 years growth.
- To have run a discovery tool within the customer’s environment to collect performance, workload and utilisation statistics.
- Completion of a Capacity Planning Exercise and an analysis of the data produced in order to build an accurate picture of the current infrastructure, applications and workload utilisation from which a design blueprint can be created.
- To have completed infrastructure modelling as part of the Capacity Planning Exercise in order to identify the most suitable hardware/software platforms on which to base the design blueprint.
Following on from the workshop, Maywood Solutions Virtualization specialists will prepare and present a report containing the following information:
- A cost analysis matrix showing a comparison between physical and virtual server/desktop deployment including ROI information and a complete breakdown of the hardware software costs.
- A project definition, documenting the actions to complete a Proof of Concept running a Virtual Infrastructure within the customer’s environment, including identifying the servers intended to be virtualised as part of the Proof of Concept. This document will contain the existing server specifications, operating system(s) and application(s) installed and any dependencies on other hardware and/or services.
- A clear definition of the acceptance criteria required to adopt Virtualization in a live production environment.
- A costing framework for Maywood's professional services required to support the Proof of Concept/Pilot/Implementation.
- Disaster recovery and business continuity options.
